Starting today, the Government, through the Ministry of Health (Minsa) , will deliver for the first time high-cost medications to improve the quality of life of patients with cystic fibrosis, an orphan and rare disease that had limited coverage in the country.
The team led by the Minister of Health, César Vásquez Sánchez, achieved this important milestone for the benefit of these patients who will be able to access the high-cost medication known as triple immunomodulatory therapy (Elecaftor – Ivacaftor – Tezacaftor).
The Deputy Minister of Public Health, Ricardo Peña, delivered the medication to cystic fibrosis patients from the Fiqui Perú Association, who had waited many years for its availability. Peña stated that the Ministry of Health is investing approximately S/6 million in the purchase of the product and emphasized that the goal is to guarantee its continued supply.
“This medication is expensive, and the Ministry of Health, after evaluating the benefits of this health technology, decided to acquire it. In this way, we are making a complete life change for patients with cystic fibrosis, who will be able to lead normal lives. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure that these patients receive continuous treatment,” the Deputy Minister stated.
